Setting the Scene
Every newsletter needs an origin story — this is ours. In this first issue, I'm introducing Queleon: why I started it, what the name actually means, and a bit about the 26+ years in software and integration that led here. Whether you're a business owner or just curious where integration and AI are heading, I'd love for you to come along for the ride. The deeper dive into AI, integration, and why the human touch still matters is coming very soon in issue two. I'd love for you to join me on the journey.

Hi, I'm Matt Rayner, founder of Queleon. Welcome to our first ever newsletter. This first one is really a bit of a scene setting.
The Intention
The newsletter is targeted at a broad audience, and is centred on my thoughts and observations, particularly around Integration, and the role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in this domain. The latter is both from a perspective of the integration needs of AI, as well as the ability of AI to help with integration — including for small businesses.
My intention is to surface conversations to decision makers, and business owners, as well as those with an interest in technology trends. It isn't intended to be a technical deep dive, and hence isn't aimed at hardcore developers, or subject matter experts with deep technical knowledge - although you're welcome to come on the journey too. I'll do my best to explain technical terms, but some base level of IT knowledge is assumed. I'm always happy for people to follow up with me for clarification. I realise not everyone is focused on these conversations daily, so there may be some tuning required - so I am very happy to take feedback (just email feedback@queleon.io).
What is Queleon?
You may be wondering what Queleon is all about, so let's start with that. Queleon exists to enable efficient intelligent communication between systems, in a way that serves the best interests of the people (especially those whose data is exchanged). In the near term our focus is on supplying impartial advice around Integration and AI. That reflects the exponential growth of systems talking to each other, which is being accelerated by the demands of AI. This is discussed in more detail later in this newsletter.
I value the independence of our advice, and Queleon does not currently build or compete with existing integration platforms or API gateways. Never say never - but that is not the intent in the foreseeable future.
Having said that, I love a product centric approach to solving problems. Working with real problems faced by real organisations presents a great opportunity to think about how these are addressed. In the case of common challenges not served by existing third party offerings, Queleon may look to deliver a cost-effective product solution to market.
What's in a Name?
You might be wondering - why Queleon, and how do you say that? Queleon takes its name from four ideas that define everything we do.
Qu for Quantum — because every exchange of data we enable is precise and purposeful, never approximate. It's the idea of handling sensitive information with the exactness it deserves. And of course one day quantum communications will enter the mainstream.
El for Elio — from the Greek for sun, the original source of light and energy. The concept here is illuminating complexity, making the invisible connections between systems visible, clear and actionable.
Ion — a charged particle in constant motion. The intent is to keep intelligence moving — charged, purposeful, flowing between systems and people in real time.
And Eon — because what we're building isn't for today alone. The foundations of trust, sovereignty and intelligent connection we're laying are built to endure. Not just for the next product cycle, but for generations of how organisations and people exchange information.
BTW - it's pronounced Kwee-le-on.
A Little About Me
Queleon's focus reflects my own extensive experience in making computer systems talk to each other. That's directly relevant to my 26+ years in software delivery, and integration, with roles spanning Software Engineering, Product Management, Architecture, and Leadership. I've worked with inhouse development capabilities, professional services and product organisations across a range of industries including telecommunications, finance and public sector.
Wrap Up
Thank you for joining me on this journey, and being a part of the Queleon story. My goal with these newsletters is to continue providing practical, human-centric insights on the evolving world of integration and AI. Next up: a proper deep dive into AI, integration, and why the human touch still matters — issue two is coming soon. I'd love to hear your thoughts, so reply any time at feedback@queleon.io, and if you haven't already, please subscribe here to receive future issues directly in your inbox.
